A RAG demo can answer a question while still leaving important production questions unanswered.
ThreadEast’s October 26 reading follows a CSDN Spring AI walkthrough by Qiye zippoe, displayed as published October 25 at 12:37 China Standard Time. The author recommends applying document permissions during retrieval rather than relying on a prompt to hide restricted material.
Three useful checks before adapting a demo:
- 1.
Trace every retrieval path. Verify the application derives permissions on the server and applies the allowed document scope before any text reaches model context. Include caches, reranking, fallback search and citation links.
- 2.
Separate retrieval from answer evaluation. Test whether the relevant passage is found, then whether the answer is supported. Include exact identifiers, paraphrases and questions with no answer in the corpus.
- 3.
Open citations. Check the actual passage and document version rather than accepting a plausible document title.
Spring AI’s official documentation describes metadata filter expressions and empty-context behavior. These are mechanisms an application can configure, not proof that its authorization rules or answers are correct.
We read the original and official references. We did not compile the article’s examples, validate its dependency combination, audit its access controls or reproduce a benchmark. A hot-list observation is not adoption evidence.
